When to start

Brushing begins as soon as the first tooth appears, using a soft, age-appropriate brush. The amount of toothpaste is adapted to the child's age.

Supervision matters

Until around the age of seven or eight, children need help or supervision when brushing. A fixed moment in the daily routine helps build the habit.

Early childhood decay

Sweetened drinks in a bottle before sleep and frequent sugary snacks substantially increase the risk. Water remains the best drink between meals.

Preparing for a first visit

  • present the visit as an exploration, not a test
  • avoid words such as 'pain' or 'injection'
  • book at a time when your child is well rested
